In recent development, the Malaysian government has decided to extend the movement control order (MCO) for another two weeks until April 14.
The Malaysian Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, was given a briefing today by the National Security Council and Health Ministry that there is an increase in the Covid-19 positive cases. According to them “The trend is expected to continue for a while before we can see the number of new cases reported decline”.
“The government is of the opinion that the movement control order should continue”. The Prime Minister reiterated that this move is necessary to stop the continuous spread, and infections of Covid-19, he said the strategy can be efficient if people are not exposed to the virus through physical and daily interactions
In the past weeks, the records of new cases were reported to be about 673. In addition, as at Wednesday, about 172 new Covid-19 positive cases were reported, bringing it to a total of 1,796 known cases.
The Prime Mister urged everyone not to panic at the time, but encourages all not to cautious and stay calm. He also assured everyone that there will be enough for everybody, food supply will be sufficient and you need not stock pile unnecessarily on food.
Finally, the people were encouraged not to feel burdened with this new measure, as the extension of the MCO is a necessary step to ensure the safety of all.
